Portfolio
The Portfolio was one of the first parts of Simply Wall St that was built, and over the years we have learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t, and also what you - our users - like and want in a portfolio management tool. That’s why one of our big projects at the moment is to re-build the portfolio from the ground up.
This is a big task, so we are doing it in steps. Our goal is to make the best portfolio management tool for long term individual investors.
Step 1: Seamless Connection
One of the biggest frustrations with using any portfolio management tool is keeping it up to date. Whether you’re using a spreadsheet or an online tool, keeping your portfolio up to date can be time consuming, tedious and confusing. To solve this, we have built a way to allow seamless connection to your broker, so your portfolio will automatically stay up to date.
This has also allowed us to rebuild the portfolio from the ground up, meaning that we are no longer tied to the decisions that have been made in the past, and we can innovate and build the best portfolio management tool.
At this stage, the portfolio has very similar functionality to the existing watchlist, but we are actively defining the portfolio specific improvements that are going to be built, including the analysis that will be added.

Step 1: Seamless Connection
One of the biggest frustrations with using any portfolio management tool is keeping it up to date. We know how tedious it can be to manually add every holdings or transactions. To solve this, we’re building a way to allow a seamless connection to your broker, so your portfolio will be imported in a matter of a few minutes and automatically stay up to date.
This has also allowed us to rebuild the portfolio from the ground up, meaning that we are no longer tied to the decisions that have been made in the past, and we can innovate and build the best portfolio management tool.
You can rest assured that your data is completely anonymised and safe. Simply Wall St and our integration partners are unable to make any change to your portfolio. You can learn more about Passiv and Yodlee by clicking on the links.
Where are we at?
At this stage, the portfolio is still in Beta. Meaning it's not available to all users, it has very basic features and a limited amount of brokers supported.
However, don’t despair! In the coming weeks we expect to integrate most of the brokers in every country, make it available to all users and add some basic analysis to start getting unique insights abut your portfolio.
If you’re already able to link your portfolio, it can already help you staying up to date with your companies. For any important update, we’ll send you an email directly to your inbox so that you can stay up to date with key developments effortlessly and ignore the noise.
What to expect next?
In the upcoming future, we’re going to work towards supporting any major broker in the world. Our mission is to help every retail investor to build a successful portfolio, so no matter in which country you live in, we’ll do our best to support your broker (not an easy task!). At the same time, we’re going to keep improving the user experience of the portfolio itself, to make sure it’s easy to use and can help you monitoring your companies better than your broker or any other product out there.
In the following months, our focus will be on building a completely new analysis. This is going to help you stay focused and let value drive your decisions, not your emotions. We’ll help you identifying risks and understand how to mitigate them, on top of staying on track with your objective.
If you’re a dividend investor we plan to build the tools for you to track past dividend payments and forecasting future ones so that you can have greater visibility on your cashflow. If you’re a new investor, don’t worry. We’ll make sure any insights will be easily understandable.
That’s it for now! Stay tuned for new updates along the way.
